- Now here is the interesting part.
Even at the risk of being fined a little over $6000 for a first offense, players still wore them. Some of the NFLPA officials even said that the union would step up and pay any fines according to various sources.
What am I getting at with all this? The Mets, the team that has become part of one of the significant moments post 9/11 will not risk being fined by the MLB for wearing First Responder caps. I even remember a story from a few years ago (don't know how true it is) that some of the players were going to wear first responder caps onto the field but management came around and collected all the hats as to not rock the boat with the MLB(during Mets Financial crisis).
So Mets/MLB, what's the excuse this time?
