Official Release: METS RECALL INFIELDER AMED ROSARIO AND RHP CHASEN BRADFORD FROM LAS VEGAS
FLUSHING, N.Y., August 1, 2017 – The New York Mets today announced that they have recalled infielder Amed Rosario and righthanded pitcher Chasen Bradford from Las Vegas (AAA) of the Pacific Coast League. To make room on the 25-man roster for both Rosario and Bradford, infielder Matt Reynolds has been optioned to Las Vegas. RHP Addison Reed was traded to Boston yesterday. Rosario will wear #1 and Bradford will wear #46. Both will active for tonight’s game in Colorado.
Rosario, who was the Mets No. 1 prospect according to Baseball America at the beginning of the season and was currently ranked as the second-best prospect in all of baseball by MLB.com in their mid-season rankings, batted .328 (129-393) with 19 doubles, seven triples, seven home runs, 58 RBI 19 stolen bases, and 66 runs scored in 94 games with the 51s this season. At the time of his promotion, Rosario was among the league leaders in hits (129, second), stolen bases (19, tied for third), triples (seven, tied for ninth) and batting average (.328, 10th).
In 16 games during July, Rosario batted .391 (27-69) with nine RBI and 18 runs scored with a .419 on-base percentage. He’s three games removed from a 17-game hitting streak that lasted from June 28-July 27 where he batted .416 (32-77) with a .432 on-base percentage. It was his second 17-game streak of the season with his other coming from May 13-30.
Signed by the Mets on July 2, 2012 out of the Dominican Republic, Rosario was selected to the mid-season Pacific Coast League All-Star team as the starting shortstop for the PCL squad. He also participated in his second straight SiriusXM Futures Game in 2017 after starting the game at shortstop in 2016 as well.
In 452 career minor league games, Rosario has batted .291 (516-1,775) with 82 doubles, 35 triples, 17 home runs, 205 RBI, 60 stolen bases and 236 runs scored.
Bradford joins the Mets for a second time this season after appearing in five games from June 22 to July 17. He made his major league debut on June 25 at San Francisco. In five relief appearances with New York this season, Bradford is 0-0 with a 7.50 ERA (five earned runs/6.0 innings).
In four appearances after being optioned to Las Vegas, Bradford allowed one run in 4.0 innings (2.25 ERA) with three strikeouts. In 33 games for the 51s this season, Bradford was 1-1 with 11 saves, a 4.04 ERA (16 earned runs/35.2 innings) and 28 strikeouts.
