Mets Roster Moves: Nimmo Lobaton to Flushing
METS ROSTER MOVES
FLUSHING, N.Y., April 13, 2018 – The New York Mets today announced that the club has selected the contract of catcher Jose Lobaton from Las Vegas (AAA) of the Pacific Coast League, recalled outfielder Brandon Nimmo from Las Vegas (AAA) and optioned RHP Jacob Rhame to Las Vegas (AAA). The Mets also transferred catcher Travis d’Arnaud to the 60-Day Disabled List. Lobaton will wear #59. Both Lobaton and Nimmo will be available for tonight’s game vs. Milwaukee.
Lobaton, 33, was hitting .333 (7-21) with one homer and six RBI in five games with Las Vegas. He was signed as a minor league free agent on December 15, 2017. Lobaton has hit .218 (237-1,085) with 45 doubles, 21 homers and 103 RBI over parts of eight seasons in the majors with the Padres, Rays and Nationals. He hit four home runs and drove in 11 runs over 51 games for Washington last year.
Nimmo, 25, is batting .333 (3-9) with a .600 on-base percentage in six games with New York. He was on New York’s Opening Day roster before he was optioned to Las Vegas (AAA) on April 10. Nimmo was 2-4 with an RBI in one game for the 51s.
Rhame, 25, was 0-0 with one save and a 7.36 ERA (three earned runs/3.2 innings).
Kevin Plawecki was placed on the 10-Day Disabled List earlier today, retroactive to April 12, with a non-displaced hairline fracture of his left hand.
