Plawecki’s hand is broken


Let’s lot panick yet. The rest of the team is still intact and can pick up the offense or hopefully this can be fixed with a trade. Any free agent catchers still unsigned out there?

Whatever the case, the Mets can expect to be without Plawecki for an extended period, leaving a gaping hole at catcher. Earlier this week Travis d’Arnaud was placed in the disabled list with a partially torn ulnar collateral ligament in his right elbow that may require Tommy John surgery.

For the short term, veteran Jose Lobaton will arrive from Triple-A Las Vegas to join rookie Tomas Nido. But the Mets could get busy looking for a trade to bolster a sudden position of weakness.
