MLB July 4th Caps
Seems like one of the hats don’t have any writing on them and the other has the Pre amble to the Constitution instead of anything from the Declaration of Independence that’s was signed on July 4, 1776 you know the thing that broke the colonies from the British rule and not the day the Constitution was signed. You know since the MLB is celebrating The 4th of July by selling Merch and all.
Thanks MJ for the pic.
Mets: Cespedes Watch
It’s funny how everyone is starting to see what I was talking about Cespedes and how there was a reason why he didn’t stick with a team before the Mets. Don’t tell me about his plight in Cuba and how he deserves to act however he wants as a baseball player. I won’t know personally the trouble he’s had throughout his life but that isn’t an excuse for him to behave how he does or doesn’t on a backfield. You get paid to do a job and right now he’s getting paid to not do his job. Seems like a few people and even folks are getting tired of his act.
From the NY Post
A message is being delivered to Cespedes: We’ll see you when you are ready to play.Read more here.
Cespedes appears in no hurry to return, especially to a team with a 32-47 record. This situation could continue all summer.
From all appearances, the Mets are no longer going to bend over backwards to keep Cespedes happy. He will be treated more like everyone else on the roster. The Mets are on the hook financially to Cespedes: $29 million this season, $29 million next season and $29.5 million in 2020.
Cespedes will get his money. What will the Mets get from Cespedes?
Cespedes played 81 games in 2017 because of a variety of leg injuries. He has been limited to 37 games this season and was put on the disabled list May 16 with a “mild strain” of the right hip flexor.
Cespedes has even said when the Mets started doing bad and began sliding basically that he is only one guy and he can’t fix the team by himself. Which is true but knowing that he’s in the lineup and his bat can be dangerous can help the other players with their at bats.
I think right now he’s happy to get a paycheck and not have to play.

Jon Morosi on the Jim Rome Show talking about Tim Tebow's MLB chances
Jon Morosi joined The Jim Rome Showtoday to talk about Tim Tebow and the chance he ever plays in a Major League Baseball game.
What a deal on this Mets Daniel Murphy Game Used 2015 World Series Jersey!(Note Sarcasm)
Mets: Cespedes will he ever be healthy?
Yo, What’s up? Do you really want to play or are you happy having a paid vacation this system. I know the Mets wanted to bring in character players, but I think they bought in one character....
From the NY Post
Since then the team is only playing worse and has the same amount of wins (32) as the tear-down-and-start-over Marlins. In October 2015, when Cespedes was a conquering hero for the Mets, it was the Royals who won that World Series in five games. The Royals, like the Mets, have fallen on hard times and are 25-55. Only the 23-56 Orioles are worse.Read more here.
That World Series seems like so long ago, and Mets fans are lost in despair and anger. Every day brings a new frustration. Not having Cespedes in the middle of the lineup hurts in so many ways.
The Mets will not say it publicly, but they are growing a bit weary of waiting on Ces. It’s interesting to note Callaway inserted Michael Conforto in left field Wednesday in the cataclysmic 5-3 loss to the pitiful Pirates, when Jeurys Familia and Anthony Swarzak imploded on the mound.
What do the Mets do with Cespedes? Should they release him and eat the contract? Put him on 60 day DL? Is is contract covered with insurance? When/if he comes back this season, what do you do with Nimmo? He deserves the playing time? What do you do with Conforto then? Do you sacrifice his development and playing time for Cespedes? Then you have the Jay Bruce Conundrum. Do you play him RF? First base? Does he ever get healthy? Who can you ship off to other teams to open room?
Mets: Because this team makes us drink.

Minor League Baseball Joins Cartoon Network’s “Best Summer Ever” Campaign
Select MiLB teams to feature kids’ favorite animated shows at nearly 50 games this summer
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — Minor League BaseballTM (MiLBTM) and Cartoon Network (CN), the #1 animation network in the U.S., announced a summer-long promotion today in select markets across the country. The in-park “Best Summer Ever” program, an extension of the summer Cartoon Network campaign, seamlessly combines baseball games and CN original series, delighting both kids and adults alike. The campaign launched on Saturday, June 23, and will continue through Sunday, Aug. 26.
The participating MiLB teams will dedicate three home games each in June, July or August to activate Cartoon Network’s in-game promotions. Activities include pre- and post-game screenings of Cartoon Network’s original hit series’, high-energy video mashups featuring CN shows and characters mixed with MiLB game and ballpark experience highlights, as well as in-game vignettes featuring Cartoon Network’s award-winning Stop Bullying Speak-Up pro-social campaign. Cartoon Network series featured throughout the promotion include The Amazing World of Gumball, Craig of the Creek, Teen Titans Go! and We Bare Bears.
The campaign also includes an integrated media plan using MiLB.com, the official website of Minor League Baseball; participating teams’ websites; MiLB and teams’ social platforms; and the First Pitch App.
“Minor League Baseball’s fan demographics and its reputation as a brand centered around fun are an ideal match to Cartoon Network’s target audiences, and using MiLB ballparks as the setting to entertain our next generation of fans with animation is a win for both brands,” said David Wright, Chief Marketing & Commercial Officer for Minor League Baseball.
“Cartoon Network has promised our viewers the Best Summer Ever and we are delivering in a new way with this partnership. We look forward to kids and families experiencing our content in a new environment alongside the fun of Minor League Baseball,” said Ryan Kilpatrick, Vice President of Marketing for Cartoon Network.
Minor League Baseball expects to attract nearly 20 million to its ballparks during the balance of the 2018 season. For a complete schedule of remaining games this season and ticket information, visit MiLB.com/tickets.

METS WHY ARE YOU SO BAD???
Of course there are the injuries. There is David Wright taking a roster spot and money away from being spent in a better way to more players that could help out. There is Cespedes who is just who is never going to come back for more then 2 games at a time. If he was a racehorse he would have been taken behind the barn already. Callaway is supposed to be some great pitching coach/pitching tactician and nothing he has done has clicked. "The team needs to gel" according to Callaway. It's June. It should have happened already. I was for the Bruce signing to bring him back, but who knew he would bring back the back pain with him. Vargas is another one that is always have some sort of issue with injuries. Thank God AJ RAMOS has to have surgery because I don't want to see him again. Conforto came back to early, Rosario still looks a tad lost. Frazier was on a nice pace before he got hurt and now has been derailed. Right now all we as Mets fans have is Nimmo and deGrom.
Mets, make a decision with where this team is going because right now, it needs to be burned down and rebuilt. Jeff Wilpon says he is fed up with the way this team is losing. DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT AND PROVE IT.

What they did next was take two jerseys out of circulation; both were game jerseys that had been worn on field that entire season – one of Mets Hall of Fame captain, John Franco, and the other of Ace Pitcher, Al Leiter. They shipped both jerseys to their official stitcher, “Stitches of Whitestone,” whereby the Mets embroiderers went to work. They mocked up 2 different embroideries for Bob Murphy (one on each sleeve); hence, turning these 2 game used jerseys into working prototypes, and then sent both back to the Mets for a decision as to what the team wanted for their entire lot of uniforms.
The Mets then selected the arc-shaped “B O B M U R P H Y” that you’re all familiar with, which appears above the skyline patch on the left sleeve, as follows:
Finally, you might be wondering how I have this information, especially the photos? Well, I’m the proud owner of both the Franco and Leiter jerseys. As a matter of fact, the Franco jersey is hanging in the Mets Hall of Fame and Museum for the 2014 season, as this year’s theme is “Mets Captains.” Do come down and take a look for yourself!

Mets: NY Post talks about what needs to be done.
In the NY Post they are talking about how the Mets new "Three amigos" need to do "Five things" to get this team going in the right direction.. I grabbed the two that spoke out to me the most.
From the NY POST
No more 24-and-1MG- There was a reason Cespedes kept getting traded from team to team. I didn't want him
The new front office must not allow the Yoenis Cespedes situation to continue to fester.
“Every player has to be treated the same,’’ one team official said. “There can’t be special rules for one player.’’
It was interesting Callaway put Michael Conforto in left field Wednesday night, making it clear Conforto is better suited to be a corner outfielder. Consider that Cespedes insurance, because the slugger has been sidelined each of the past two years with leg woes. Get what you can from Cespedes, but don’t expect him to carry your club anymore. Those false hopes only destroy the fabric of a team.
to get signed by the team after his last contract ended and then I apologized because he seemed to prove me wrong about what kind of player he is, now with the long run he proved me right. Should have kept that net negative Daniel Murphy.
Triple A seems to be broken-
Manager Mickey Callaway has tackled the problem head-on, rightfully ruffling feathers within the organization. Every day, Baseball 101 is going on hours before the game as Callaway and his hard-working staff do tutorials. On Wednesday, the student was Wilmer Flores, who was getting 2-on-1 coaching on playing first base from first-base coach Ruben Amaro Jr. and bench coach Gary DiSarcina.
Earlier in the week, it was bunting practice for shortstop Amed Rosario, who has also been getting drilled on stealing bases. None of this was accomplished in the minor leagues. Callaway recently mentioned how Dom Smith did not bunt in the minors, which is why he was hesitant to have him do it in a game.
Callaway is shining a spotlight on the Mets’ many deficiencies. One former minor league player told The Post that batting practice at Las Vegas was often curtailed last year because it was “too hot.’’MG- Let's get into this a bit.... Why isn't this reinforced in the minors at all? That is what the minors are for, no? Fundamentals should be drilled into players non stop. The pitching seems like it has gotten worse in Vegas. Seems like one Frank Viola get moved to Binghamton, there wasn't a significant replacement. I don't even know who the pitching coach is in Vegas.... Be right back.... Okay, I am back. After some research I found it's GLENN ABBOTT- "He spent the previous six seasons as pitching coach for Double-A Binghamton of the Eastern League (2012-17). In 2017, Binghamton compiled a record of 85-54 (.612) and advanced to the EL playoffs. He also served as pitching coach for Single-A Savannah of the South Atlantic League in 2011. He was a member of the San Diego Padres system before joining the Mets. He served as pitching coach for Double-A San Antonio of the Texas League in 2007 and 2010. He served in the same role with Triple-A Portland of the Pacific Coast League in 2008 and 2009 and with Double-A Mobile of the Southern League in 2006. He was also pitching coach in the Texas Rangers system from 2003-05. He spent a total of 13 seasons as a coach in Oakland's organization from 1990-2002. He made his coaching debut with the Mets in 1985 with Single-A Little Falls of the New York-Penn League and stayed with the organization through the 1989 season." So he was basically traded from the Rumble Ponies to Vegas for Viola. Meh.
How do you not have an indoor training field in Vegas if it is "too hot" to do training for the big leagues? That is a bull shit answer. Spend the money and get your players right. I am hoping the move to Syracuse next season makes life easier in this regard.
