HIT IN AN INNING STREAK: The Mets had a hit in 14 straight innings from the eighth inning on Sunday through the third inning last night...That was the longest such streak in team history since a 16-inning streak with a hit from May 25, 2014 (first game of a doubleheader) through May 26, 2014...Credit Elias.
SINCE MAY: The Mets are 14-30 since May 1...The club is hitting .224 with 48 homers during that span...The pitching staff has posted a 4.35 ERA since the beginning of May.
FROM ELIAS: Brandon Nimmo was the first player since Detroit’s Ben Oglivie in 1976 to hit a game-winning homer in the ninth inning or later in one game and then connect for an inside-the- park home run in his first time up in the team’s next game...Oglivie hit a walkoff homer to beat the Brewers on June 1 that year and then pinch-hit in the eighth inning the next day and cracked an inside-the-park homer...Also, Nimmo is the only player in Mets history to hit a game-winning homer in the ninth inning or later in one game and then hit a first-inning leadoff home run (of any kind) in the team’s next game.
HOMERS: The Mets have hit 15 home runs in their last 11 games and 29 homers in their last 24 games, but, 22 of those have been solo blasts.
NIMMO POWER: Brandon Nimmo has a career-high 12 home runs...He has 10 homers since May 23 tied for the third-most in the majors during that span with Evan Gattis...Nelson Cruz and Paul Goldschmidt are first with 11...Nimmo's previous professional career-high was 11 homers in 97 games (392 at-bats) with Las Vegas (AAA) of the Pacific Coast League in 2011.
NIMMO NUGGETS: Nimmo is fifth in the majors with a .409 on- base percentage, leads the NL and ranks fifth in the majors with a .596 slugging percentage and is second in the NL and is fifth in the majors with a 1.005 OPS (all min. 170 plate appearances)...
