HING, N.Y., June 26, 2018 – The New York Mets today announced that they have recalled righthanded pitcher Gerson Bautista from Las Vegas (AAA) of the Pacific Coast League and optioned infielder Luis Guillorme to Las Vegas. Bautista will wear #46 and is active for tonight’s game vs. Pittsburgh.
Bautista joins the Mets for a third time this season after stints with the Mets from April 17-21 and May 28-June 5. The 23-year-old made his major league debut on April 17 vs. Washington. In five games for the Mets this season, Bautista is 0-1 with a 12.46 ERA (six earned runs/4.1 innings).
In 18 combined games this season between Binghamton (AA) of the Eastern League and Las Vegas, Bautista is 2-1 with a 5.61 ERA (16 earned runs/25.2 innings) with 33 strikeouts and nine walks. Bautista’s 12 most recent appearances came with the 51s, where he was 1-1 with a 6.06 ERA (11 earned runs/16.1 innings) and 18 strikeouts.
Bautista is 11-12 with a 2.97 ERA (77 earned runs/233.2 innings) and 215 strikeouts in 103 games (23 starts) during his minor league career. He was acquired by the Mets from Boston on July 31, 2017 in exchange for Addison Reed.
Guillorme batted .172 (10-58) with two doubles and four RBI in 29 games with the Mets.
