Why is Jose Reyes Playing?

That guy that likes to stoke the fire on certain subjects over at Metspolice aka my cousin thinks he might have figured out why Reyes is playing everyday for the Mets right now.
There was some sort of conversation that Jose is done as player. Someone somewhere decided to give him one last chance and not just kick the guy to the curb. That someone somewhere said that they would play him every day for say two weeks into the break, but if its not working then Jose would have to choose to retire on his own or else his career ends with the DFA.
Read more here.
Honestly, that’s not a bad theory. The question is, do the Mets buy him out in a deal or does he just walks away from the money? Or if Reyes just retires do the Mets get to save money from the rest of this year and next year.
