Mets Home Opening Day.
Every year the Mets new season starts with a renew sense of hope that this team will be a contender. With the Mets sitting at 5 Wins and 1 Loss, that hope is even stronger. Last year the Mets went 11 and 1 to start off the season. We as fans thought that it was the real deal season. Mickey Callaway was the best thing since sliced bread and the Mets could do no wrong. That is until they couldn’t score runs for deGrom, the injury bug hit again, and the Mets just plain sucked for June.
This year we have a new GM that has that new GM glow, a signed to an extension deGrom, Alonso up in the Majors at the beginning of the season and a team that looked like it might have gelled already. But I see the the weakness of the team early. As I am sure so have you. Can’t send out Vargas out there every 5th day for five innings a game and then have the wobbly bullpen come in to mop up. The Mets need another pitcher that can bring you deeper into the game the that and I hear that there is still a pretty nifty free agent pitcher out there.
What I am basically getting at is, new season, new fun. Enjoy today everyone and Let’s Go Mets.
