About that front office … let’s face it, after Callaway’s rocky rookie season, from the botched lineup card in Cincinnati (against Riggleman, then the Reds’ manager) to several eyebrow-raising quotes to other characteristic Mets nonsense, it would’ve been understandable for new general manager Brodie Van Wagenen to walk in and view Callaway as a rapidly expiring carton of milk. Instead, “He’s been tremendous,” Callaway said of Van Wagenen. “There’s tons of communication. He’s involved in everything. It’s been such a great dialogue every day that we’re both learning a ton about each other and about everything. It’s been fun.”
