My buddy Chris Flexen got Designated for Assignment by the Mets

I am bummed out a bit. My buddy Chris Flexen has been DFA'd by the Mets. Chris is really good guy. I  met him and his dad not he set of Gotham a few years ago and hit it off with him. We became buddies and would check in with each other from time to time to see how each other were doing. Chris was also the first current Met player we had ever brought to the QBC. It just so happened we also got Brandon Nimmo for the same QBC also. I am not trying to make this sound like a eulogy but I know this is a rough thing to happen to a young player. Chris was a starter when I met him but from what I could see from his stuff he should have been coming out of the bullpen. The Mets would start him, have him come out of the BP, bring him up from the Minors, send him back down, bring him up for 10 days, never use him and then send him back down again. Eventually they were going to run out of options for him. In 2018 he got hurt at the end of the season and had knew surgery. The Mets didn't even announce that he was injured. He had knee surgery and in the off season worked hard, lost weight, got in better shape and changed his mechanics. Flexen looked like he could be with the team in 2019 because of the relief pitching problems. Again he was sent up and down to the minors. He would have a good game and then get sent down for another arm so they had a fresher arm. Chris's stats over the three years he come up and down to Flushing didn't really show the improvement that he had. Now my buddy got DFA'd. I am hoping that the Mets resign him to a minor league deal if he clears waivers. If the Mets don't bring him back, I hope that he at least gets signed by a National League team so I can shoot the shit with him in Flushing.

Check out the QBC 2018 panel of Chris with me and Dennis Holden
