Wacha and Porcello now Mets.

From the NY Post.
Porcello, 30, won the AL Cy Young with the Red Sox in 2016 when he went 22-4 with a 3.15 ERA, but he has failed to recapture that form. Over the last three seasons with Boston, Porcello had a 4.79 ERA over 98 starts, pitching to a 5.52 ERA in 2019.

With an open rotation spot, general manager Brodie Van Wagenen dived into his CAA past and agreed to terms Wednesday on a one-year contract worth $3 million with right-hander Michael Wacha, according to industry sources. Wacha, a CAA client, could earn as much as $10 million based on incentives in the deal.
Wacha, 28, went 6-7 with a 4.76 ERA in 29 appearances for the Cardinals last season. He was utilized primarily as a starter, but also made five relief appearances, opening the possibility he could pitch from the bullpen if the Mets decide they prefer Seth Lugo or Robert Gsellman in the rotation. Lugo and Gsellman are expected to stretch out this offseason and work as starters in spring training.
“We stated as we showed up here that starting pitching depth was a priority for us,” Van Wagenen said. “We like Michael Wacha a lot. … He fits the category of depth starting pitching that we think has high upside.”

CAA- Brodie. Can't get away from his former agency. I wonder what kind of escape clause he has to get back to CAA IF/WHEN he might be let go from, or walks away from the Mets. The whole keep acquiring his former agency's clients is bugging the hell out of me.

Folks thats are complaining about Gerrit Cole and Rendon deals and the Mets not being in on them, come on guys really? They are paying Cano for for more seasons  a stupid amount of money, Cespedes is getting money and may or may not play, and who know what other salary mistakes they are trying to figure out. Stop wishing for players you aren't going to get and you won't be let down.

You can listen to and voice your opinions at the State of the Mets Panel at QBC 2020 on Saturday Jan 20th 2020 located at Mulcahy's of Wantagh.
