@mets this is why us fans can’t have nice things

Hey @mets, I understand why some fans make it harder for us to have nice things. We have been begging for years to get a Tom Seaver statue erected at Citi Field. Then I see this post in a Facebook group. This guy saying how much of a Seaver fan he is and “had to get the pic with the statue”. When did folks lose respect for statues and artwork. I am sure he wasn’t the first one to do this but this might be the time to have some security over by the statue pre and post game. But what should I expect from a guy who buys a  knockoff jersey that helps fund human trafficking and organized crime. Also in my opinion I don’t think that alcoholic beverage helped out with his decision.

Now let’s look past the proud peacock and look at the back leg of The Franchise’s statue. See the kid leaning on his leg? Where are this kids parents?

At least I’m not the only one who thinks this guy is ridiculous.

@metspolice not followed by the @mets anymore

It looks like my cousin Shannon over at Metspolice.com has driven the folks in the social media department to unfollow him. I know he drives folks crazy with some of his views and opinions about the Mets and how baseball sucks now. The funny thing is, he’s right around the average age wise of the folks who are supposed to enjoy baseball. I think his last game he went to was the David Wright Day game. I will say Shannon when he’s on and is focused on something that folks might of missed like what’s going on with the 126th street development or some of the other baseball/but not really baseball stuff he nails it. It’s going to be fun to see what transpires next.

NEW YORK METS TO HOST BLOOD DRIVE JUNE 30 AT CITI FIELD

NEW YORK METS TO HOST BLOOD DRIVE

JUNE 30 AT CITI FIELD

WHAT:           The New York Mets along with New York Blood Center (NYBC) will host their annual Summer Blood Drive on Thursday, June 30 from 11:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. in the Piazza Club at Citi Field. NYBC announced a blood emergency last month due to an alarming drop in blood donations. The region’s blood supply currently stands at a 2-3 day level, which is well below the ideal level of 5-7 days. Hospitals and patients rely upon a steady flow of volunteer donors to receive life-saving donations, but school breaks and summer travel, coupled with a two-year period of almost no youth donations during the pandemic have made blood donation less of a priority.

NYBC encourages all who are able to sign up and donate today, especially as we head into the summer months when it is even more difficult to turnout blood donors. One blood donation has the ability to save up to three lives.

Fans donating blood will receive a voucher redeemable for two tickets to a select Mets home game in 2022 with exclusions and based on availability. Donors must be 16 years of age (with parental consent), weigh at least 110 lbs. and be in good health. As always, people are not eligible to donate if they’re experiencing a cold, sore throat, respiratory infection or flu-like symptoms. Additional information on donor eligibility and COVID-19 precautions is available here.

WHEN:           Thursday, June 30

11:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.

WHO:              Mr. Met will be in attendance from 12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m.

WHERE:         Piazza Club at Citi Field

Fans and media may park in Lot G off Seaver Way and enter through the Hodges VIP entrance.

Mets'd Up Podcast: Do fans like black jerseys?

The Mets'd up podcast doesn't even realize how many of these black jerseys are knockoffs. So these fans love the black jerseys but not enough to by the real ones that the money go back to the players or the teams. Also the one kid who says I like the jersey but they don't have enough orange and blue in them.

Hey Mets, if you are going to have your podcast go out at least find authentic jerseys. Also Didn't see them going to a wide array of fans, just younger fans.

Pete Alonso Signed Jersey

Description
Take your collection of Pete Alonso memorabilia to the next level with this New York Mets White Nike Authentic Jersey. It features a hand-signed autograph and inscription reading ''2019 NL ROY.'' Whether displayed in your home or office, it's the perfect way to highlight your passion for Pete Alonso for years to come.
$650 bucks for this on Lids.com. Funny thing about this, I acquired an Alonso Framed Autographed jersey and I was selling it at cost at the QBC last year and no one grabbed it. I had up for sale at $700 I think but it was framed and nobody saw the value in it. Oh well. Now you can pay $650 for an unframed jersey.

Is this the worst hot dog at Citi Field?

This right here is the Steakhouse Ripper from The metropolitan Fry Factory. The Metropolitan Fry Factory is  the restaurant that replaced Box Frites behind the score board. I’ve been trying to try new foods while out at Citi Field and boy did I make a mistake with this one.

The Steakhouse Ripper is a deep fried hot dog with bacon crumbs, melted cheese, chives and basically a brisket chili. So it’s a fancy chili dog. This thing was super salty. The best way to explain it is if you took Shannon from Metspolice.com’s personality and made it into a food. For a hot dog that’s supposed to be deep fried, there was no crunch to it when I hit into it. You the Snap you get when you bite into a good hot dog? Nope not there. The cheese that was like a cheese whiz type cheese just tasted of salt. Same as the bacon. I will say this though the brisket “chili” on top did taste pretty good and would be great on fries.

Speaking of fries, I tried their Plain French fries also. Very generic, some were burnt, some were under cooked, and the ones that were cooked properly were just okay.

My rating for this meal is a 1 out of 5.

Pride Night at Citi Field is a celebration of the many New Yorkers and Mets fans from around the world who are part of the LGBTQ+ community. In addition, the first 25,000 fans in attendance will receive an exclusive Mets Pride fanny pack, presented by Justworks.

A special pregame ceremony will take place during the National Anthem as members of the LGBT Network, a non-profit that funds community centers and programming with resources for the LGBTQ+ Community throughout Long Island and Queens, participate in an on-field Pride flag presentation. The anthem will be performed by Krystofer Maison, a queer, non-binary singer and recording artist based in New York City. During the seventh inning stretch, drag queen Jan Sport will perform “Take Me Out to the Ball Game.”

An honorary first pitch will have Sam Culwell throwing to Bryan Ruby. Culwell is a former high school baseball player who came out in 2019 and currently attends SUNY Cortland. QBC: Why we are looking for a new location.

Hey everyone. A lot of folks are wondering why we are not going back to Mulcahy’s and looking for a new location. It’s easy. It’s about money. Not in a bad way or a hard feelings way. Mulcahy’s as any business at this time wanted to raise the venue fee to have the next QBC there. We totally get it and understand.

As just two guys who run the event we didn’t feel comfortable paying the higher fee. Why’s that you ask? Well then we would have to jack up whatever our prices would be for tickets and autographs to QBC.

You guys have to remember we pay for the talent to show up. We pay for the venue, audio/visual, and any of the banners/backdrops we use. So, if the venue price goes up, we either have to raise the ticket prices or get players that cost less to come to the QBC. We don’t want to have to pass the cost on to our fellow fans if we don’t have to. Remember, for all the work Dan and I do, we basically just put the money back into the QBC account for the next one.

Besides SNY and The NY Post we don’t really have any sponsors. SNY has been great to us over the years and The NY Post for their first QBC were awesome. So if we can snag more sponsors it would be a great help. If you guys know of any Mets fans with businesses that want to be a sponsor hit me up at mediagoon@gmail.com.

Hopefully that clears it up about why we have to move and again no hard feelings with Mulcahy’s. They were a great host last QBC and we’d work with them again in the future.

Lids.com throwing shade at “Noah”?

Now this is probably pure coincidence but I find it funny. Is Lids calling a certain Noah that pitches for a team in California a baby? Especially with him not having to face the Mets this weekend? I can’t help but to laugh at this.

You can find it at Lids.com if you want a personalized Mets bib for your baby.

Queens Baseball Convention and why we do it.

When we started working on the QBC way back in 2013 for 2014, Darren Meenan, Shannon Shark, Dan Twohig, and myself wanted to do a Mets Fan Fest that we as fans would want to go to. Darren had to officially drop out from it because of his working with MLB to get the7Line to be official with them but has still been a great supporter and we consider him one of the founders of QBC. Shannon from Mets Police dropped out after a few years because he had other life/family commitments and couldn’t devote the time to our hobby any more still supports us and is a founder.

That leaves Dan and me. We still try to kick as much ass as possible for our fellow Mets fans and to make a fan fest that we are proud of and want our fellow Mets fans to be proud of too. I know you are probably saying get to it already so here it is.

We have built  relationships with people behind the scenes with our long time sponsor and one of those folks is moving in to a position with another company. He sent us an email saying how much the QBC and being able to showcase the SNY shows he worked on was one for the highlights in his career there. He said that the fellow Mets fans energy and response to the shows he was able to bring live to the fans at the QBC proved to him that the shows he produces was loved by his fellow Mets fans and it meant a lot to him. He thanked us for all we did at QBC and what a great day it is for Mets fans to have.

That made me proud. Knowing that QBC and all the hard work we have put in over the years has such an impact on others makes it worth it. Dan and I are working hard on it know as we speak. I’m scouting new locations and hopefully we’ll have some news on that front soon.

Last thing I want to say is to Michael F. Good luck on continuing to rise in your career, it was a pleasure working with you over the years, and you will alway be part of the QBC family. Going miss working with you but now I can’t wait for you to be able to enjoy the whole QBC without having to work it.

It's June. Does that mean the typical June Swoon for the Mets?

It's June. Does that mean the Mets will go into their typical June Swoon like they have in past seasons? No Scherzer, no deGrom, Alonso day to day, Marie day to day, Bassit getting let up. Should the Mets and Mets fans be worried?

I say nope. The team will be okay. They will not have the June Swoon and will get through this time of strife. When was the last time you have seen a Mets team that looked this focused, fun, and for a change not doing anything stupid in the papers? I think this is just going tone a temporary bump in the road like most seasons have. The Mets have had quite a bit of good luck so far with come back wins and even when getting hit by pitches, no serious injuries. I think this team is going to come back strong and be one if the teams to beat in the NL,

June Swoon...What June Swoon?

Not All Tampa Bay Rays wore Pride Patch.

Some teams are wearing Pride gear/patches in game, some aren't. It seems interesting to me that the Rays didn't put patches on every jersey. Isn't that part of the uniform? What does that do to the uniform rulebook? Shouldn't a uniform have a uniform look?

 From the NY Post.

A number of Tampa Bay Rays players decided not to wear rainbow-colored logos on their uniforms as part of the team’s annual “Pride Night” on Saturday that recognized the LGBTQ community.

Tampa Bay Rays manager Kevin Cash addressed it after Sunday’s game, saying he doesn’t think it’ll negatively impact the clubhouse because discussions among the players over past few weeks were constructive and emphasized the value of differing perspectives.“First and foremost, I think the organization has done a really good thing to have Pride Night’s supporting our gay community to come out and have a nice night at the ballpark,” Cash said. “Impressed that our players have had those conversions and we want to support our players that choose to wear or choose not to wear to the best of our capabilities.”

Reliever Jason Adam was among those who opted out, and said it was a “faith-based decision” for him.

“It’s just what we believe the lifestyle he’s (Jesus) encouraged us to live for our good, not to withhold,” Adam told the Tampa Bay Times. “But we love these men and women, we care about them and we want them to feel safe and welcome here.”

You can read more here

I have a question though if players can pick and choose what patches they can put on their jerseys what other patches can they say they don't want? Memorial Day? The American Flag? The various different ribbons they put on jerseys highlighting a cause?

Citi Field Food That You Might Know About.

This seems to be the place that took over for Mama's of Corona. Mama's was a go to staple for years over at the ball park. I'll have to pop in there to try the Classico.

I bet some of you didn't know that Dole Whip is over at Citi Field. You don't have to fly down to Disney to get your fix.

Want some lobster rolls? I'm not a seafood eater but if you are this might be for you.

I keep wanting to try Pig Beach which is five minutes away from me. I'll prob end up eating it at the ballpark.
