NEW YORK METS TO HOST BLOOD DRIVE JUNE 30 AT CITI FIELD

NEW YORK METS TO HOST BLOOD DRIVE

JUNE 30 AT CITI FIELD

WHAT:           The New York Mets along with New York Blood Center (NYBC) will host their annual Summer Blood Drive on Thursday, June 30 from 11:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. in the Piazza Club at Citi Field. NYBC announced a blood emergency last month due to an alarming drop in blood donations. The region’s blood supply currently stands at a 2-3 day level, which is well below the ideal level of 5-7 days. Hospitals and patients rely upon a steady flow of volunteer donors to receive life-saving donations, but school breaks and summer travel, coupled with a two-year period of almost no youth donations during the pandemic have made blood donation less of a priority.

NYBC encourages all who are able to sign up and donate today, especially as we head into the summer months when it is even more difficult to turnout blood donors. One blood donation has the ability to save up to three lives.

Fans donating blood will receive a voucher redeemable for two tickets to a select Mets home game in 2022 with exclusions and based on availability. Donors must be 16 years of age (with parental consent), weigh at least 110 lbs. and be in good health. As always, people are not eligible to donate if they’re experiencing a cold, sore throat, respiratory infection or flu-like symptoms. Additional information on donor eligibility and COVID-19 precautions is available here.

WHEN:           Thursday, June 30

11:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.

WHO:              Mr. Met will be in attendance from 12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m.

WHERE:         Piazza Club at Citi Field

Fans and media may park in Lot G off Seaver Way and enter through the Hodges VIP entrance.
