FLUSHING, N.Y., July 14, 2022 – The New York Mets announced today that communications veteran Nancy Elder has been appointed as the organization’s first Chief Communications Officer and a member of the senior leadership team.  In this newly created role reporting to Mets President Sandy Alderson, Elder will be responsible for communications strategy and public affairs.

“Nancy is a seasoned executive who is widely respected in the industry and will bring great leadership and expertise to advance our communications and brand strategy,” said Alderson. “Her experience creating strategic vision and innovative programs and partnerships will be an asset to the Mets as we look to grow the organization’s impact on and off the field.”

Elder joins the Mets from DAZN Group, a UK-based sports media company, where she was Chief Communications Officer overseeing all global communications, analyst relations, DEI and social impact as well as the women’s sports strategy.  The creativity and integration expertise Elder brought to DAZN contributed to several record-setting awareness and audience figures across multiple sports including an unprecedented 64 million views of the UEFA Women’s Champions League soccer globally, in partnership with YouTube.

“Having grown up in Montreal, I’ve been a fan of the Mets since Gary Carter joined in 1985 and I am honored to support this iconic and dynamic organization,” Elder said. “I’d like to thank Steve, Alex and Sandy for the opportunity to join this talented team and be a part of the joy and excitement that the Mets bring to New York and their amazing fans all over the world.”

Vice President of Communications Harold Kaufman will continue to serve in that role and be the primary contact for local and national media for all baseball operation related issues and opportunities. He will work closely with Nancy on internal and external communication planning and strategy on and off the field.
