NEW YORK METS PARTNER WITH USA BASEBALL AND AMTRAK TO EXPAND THE ‘FUN AT BAT’ PROGRAM ACROSS NEW YORK CITY TRI-STATE AREA
The Mets have implemented this program into 50 schools in Queens, reaching approximately 25,000 students, since launching in September.
FLUSHING, N.Y., February 8, 2023 – The New York Mets, in partnership with USA Baseball and Amtrak, have expanded the “Fun At Bat” program across the New York City Tri-State area.
The “Fun At Bat” program brings young athletes a unique baseball and softball experience. Through this program, students are exposed to an introductory level of the game including fielding, throwing, and batting, while placing an emphasis on character development, functional movement, literacy, active play, and fun.
This free program is available to all schools throughout the New York City Tri-State area (grades K-5). Participating schools will receive quality equipment, Mets-branded “USA Baseball Championship Principles” books, teacher curriculums co-developed with SHAPE America, and other resources at no cost. Physical education teachers will also have access to free online courses, which assist in teaching the fundamentals of the program.
Amtrak’s partnership with the ‘Fun At Bat’ program supports its commitment to community outreach beyond company boundaries. Amtrak continuously cultivates relationships with a variety of organizations that benefit the communities they serve.
The New York Mets are encouraging all qualifying K-5 school administrators and physical education teachers to go online, learn more, and register their school for the free program by visiting Mets.com/FunAtBat.
