Hudson Yards
Related Companies and Wynn Resorts are bidding to build a casino on the undeveloped portion of Hudson Yards, the mixed-use mega development on the Far West Side of Manhattan.Related is the real-estate developer of Hudson Yards, a relatively new neighborhood that is home to office towers, a high-end shopping mall and luxury apartments. In a private pitch deck, Wynn and Related touted the proposed site’s proximity to the Javits Center as a way for the casino to attract convention attendees. They described their intended audience as “upscale.”
Goon here- Being near to the Javits Center makes a lot of sense. Hudson Yards while being full of office buildings it does have a lot of tourists heading over there. It could be a pretty good boon over there economy wise.
Times Square
SL Green Realty Corp., which describes itself as the largest owner of office buildings in New York, and Caesars Entertainment are proposing to build a vertical casino at 1515 Broadway, a skyscraper near the New Year’s Eve ball drop in the heart of Times Square. The base of the building is the Broadway theater playing “The Lion King” musical. To garner support from local businesses and workers, the developers are promising to dedicate some of their profits to improving sanitation and safety in the neighborhood, which has — like many New York City neighborhoods — seen an uptick in violent crime. Their proposed safety plan includes deploying surveillance drones and artificial intelligence camera systems in Times Square.
This will just be more of a mess over in Times Square. It's already crazy enough with the unofficial folks dressed up as other people's IP and apparently shaking down tourists for money. And AI cameras and drones flying around? What is this Blade Runner?
Coney Island
Joseph Sitt, founder of Thor Equities Group, a real estate investment firm, is partnering with Saratoga Casino Holdings and the Chickasaw Nation to propose a casino in Coney Island in Brooklyn.
Mr. Sitt is positioning his bid as the underdog going up against the brand-name casino companies. This is the latest iteration of his longstanding passion project to revitalize the Coney Island beachfront and boardwalk as a year-round entertainment destination. He hopes the casino complex can include several hotels, an indoor water park and museums.
I know Coney Island needs a revamp to provide more jobs and to get Coney Island back to its heyday when it was a head to destination for folks back in the early 1900's. I can see a problem. How has Atlantic City off the boardwalk where the casinos are fared?
Nassau Coliseum
Las Vegas Sands, the casino company, plans to purchase the lease of the site that is currently home to the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum, an entertainment and sports venue on Long Island that had previously hosted the New York Islanders hockey team.
The venue is in Uniondale, N.Y., about a two-hour train ride east of Midtown Manhattan. Las Vegas Sands, which announced the bid in collaboration with the developer RXR, said the massive casino and hospitality complex would include luxury hotels, celebrity chef restaurants and a day spa.
This I feel like this might be a good place to have a casino and there is a whole lot of land over there. It already has a renovated venue that can be used for sports and rock shows.
Saks Fifth Avenue
Hudson’s Bay Company, the owner of the Saks Fifth Avenue department store chain, said it hopes to bid for a high-end casino to be located inside its New York flagship store in Midtown Manhattan.
I don't even know where this idea would come from.
Midtown East
The Soloviev Group said that it will partner with Mohegan, the casino and resort operator, on a 6.7-acre site near the United Nations headquarters that could include a giant Ferris wheel, a museum dedicated to democracy, and a largely underground casino to accommodate roughly four acres of public green space at street level. The project could also include a 1,200-room hotel and between 1,400 to 1,500 new rental and condo apartments, a portion of which would be rented below market rate.
This might not be too bad over the east side in that pit that was supposed to be office buildings years and years ago. Would the east side be able to handle the influx of folks over there?
What other proposals could be announced?
Willets Point
Steven Cohen, a hedge fund manager who owns the New York Mets, has been in talks with Hard Rock to develop a casino next to the team’s stadium in Willets Point in Queens.
Citi Field is going to eventually be rebuilt. You put a casino next to it on parkland thats owned by NYC and where do you build the new Stadium? Outside of Queens? Or does Steve Cohen just keeps renovating the ball park.
Trump Golf Links
The first casino pitch in the Bronx has an unusual offer: removing “Trump” from a portion of the publicly owned golf course that bears the former president’s name. Bally’s Corporation said it had reached a deal last year to take control of 17 acres of the 192-acre Trump Golf Links at Ferry Point, and would excise his name if they are granted one of the casino licenses, according to two Bally’s officials.
Not a lot of stuff around there. I don't know how great the transit system is and can you imagine the traffic going to and coming off of the Whitestone Bridge?

Great stuff as always MG. I think it is easy to say the Willets point site has a lot of competition
