QBC 2024's Second Guest is? Click to find out.
I know we have been a little slow with putting out who we are getting for QBC 2024. The reason why is we are trying to get guests that have a place in the Mets fans hearts while trying to bring in new guests that our fellow fans might not have seen in a while. One of these guests is..... Former NY Mets Second Baseman Gregg Jefferies. I am sure he is going to have some great stories from being on the Mets and also from the rest of his baseball career.
About Gregg Jefferies
From Wikipedia
Draft and minor leagues
Drafted by the New York Mets out of Junípero Serra High School in the first round of the 1985 amateur draft (#20 overall), Jefferies hit .331 in his first year in the minor leagues, moving from Kingsport of the Appalachian League (rookie) to Jackson of the Texas League (AA) in two years. He was named Baseball America's Minor League Player of the Year for both 1986 and 1987, becoming the first player to receive that distinction in consecutive years.[3]
New York Mets (1987–1991)
He hit .367 with 20 home runs, 48 doubles and 101 RBI for Jackson in 1987, earning Jefferies a brief call-up from the New York Mets at the end of the 1987 season. He went 3 for 6 in 6 games, at the age of 19, making him the youngest player in the Major Leagues that season.
The Mets decided they needed to make room for Jefferies, but didn't know where to play him, as the veteran team was full at the spots Jefferies played in the minor leagues (shortstop, third base and second base). The outfield was full as well, with the team finding it difficult to get outfielders Lenny Dykstra and Mookie Wilsonplaying time alongside Darryl Strawberry and Kevin McReynolds, so Jefferies was sent to AAA Tidewater to start the 1988 season.
After spending most of the 1988 season at AAA (where he hit .282), Jefferies was recalled at the end of August and allowed to play out the year as a starter, mostly at third base. He responded by hitting .321 over the last 29 games of the 1988 season. The team had an MLB-best 24–7 record after his debut and finished with a league-best 100 wins en route to the National League East title.[3]
The Mets made a full-time roster spot for Jefferies when they traded Wally Backman to the Minnesota Twins, leaving second base open for Jefferies. But Jefferies faltered, hitting .258 with little selectivity as a rookie in 1989.
In 1990, Jefferies raised his batting average to .283 while scoring 96 runs and leading the NL with 40 doubles, but the Mets finished 2nd for the second straight year. He slipped in 1991, hitting .272 with 30 extra base hits in 486 at bats as the team slipped to 5th place.
For his career, Jefferies had a career .289 batting average with 126 home runs, 663 RBIs and 196 stolen bases.

MINOR LEAGUE BASEBALL PARTNERS WITH SNAPCHAT
Partnership brings Snapchat’s “Less Likes, More Love” campaign to MiLB ballparks
August 21, 2024 — Minor League Baseball™ (MiLB™) today announced a partnership with Snapchat to promote their recently launched “Less Likes, More Love” campaign to highlight how people use Snapchat to spread love.
All 120 Minor League teams will host a Snapchat “Less Likes, More Love” theme night, featuring fan giveaways and spotlighting moments of togetherness during a game, including a Hug Cam videoboard feature encouraging fans to feel connected to those around them.
Many of the “Less Likes, More Love” theme nights will take place on August 21 or August 28, and fans are encouraged to check the promotional calendar of their local team for more information on their Snapchat night.
“We're thrilled to partner with Minor League Baseball to bring the 'Less Likes, More Love' campaign to life in ballparks across the country,” said Emma Wakely, Sports Partnerships, Snapchat. “Snapchat is all about enhancing real-world experiences and helping people feel more connected, and there’s no better place to do that than at a baseball game. By creating moments of joy and togetherness—from our Hug Cams to the newly coined ‘hugouts’—we’re encouraging fans to share their love and make memories that go beyond the screen.”
In 20 ballparks across MiLB, Snapchat has rebranded the home team dugouts as the ‘hugouts’ as a nod to the comradery and community found among teammates. The ‘hugouts’ will be featured in a weekly social content series across MiLB digital channels to capture these moments of joy and friendship.
“Minor League Baseball is all about community and bringing people together, and Snapchat is a great partner to convey this shared message,” said Uzma Rawn, Major League Baseball’s Senior Vice President of Global Corporate Partnerships. “Every night across Minor League Baseball, the dugouts and seats are filled with smiles, high fives and hugs, and joining Snapchat’s “Less Likes, More Love” campaign is a perfect fit.”
The Hug Cam will continue to be an evergreen moment at every game for the remainder of the season to help spread the love with Snapchat.

How was Fanatics Fest Folks?
Guys don’t oversell the tickets to photo ops and autographs. You have the talent there for a certain amount of time you should be able to figure out how long an interaction should take and how long that talent is going to be there vs the number of tickets sold. You don’t only make yourselves look bad but you make the talent look like it’s their fault. We were going to run overtime once at the QBC so you know what we did? We paid the talent to stay longer to make sure everyone who paid for an auto got it. You make the paying customer happy. Here are some comments from their FB Page in no particular order. Also here’s a link to the FB page to keep up on it. Read the full comments here

My thoughts on that "First Pitch" at Citi Field
Unsurprisingly, many of you have made fools of yourselves again 😬 #LGM https://t.co/GfC8tasCIr pic.twitter.com/3ViR193b3m

Media Goon 1st Pitch
I was on X, Facebook, and even fielding texts about Haliey Welch yesterday throwing out the First Pitch. Which wasn't even the official first pitch yesterday. When I threw out my first pitch years ago it was through a company that reached out to me about getting a group together of fellow Mets fans to go to a game. This was basically a sales contest run by this company in conjunction with the Mets and the prize was the winner with most seats sold got to throw out a first pitch. I won, You know who threw out the official first pitch after me? Jim Breuer. Now, Jim Breuer has some off color humor in his routines over the years. Co-starred in Half Baked. For those of you who don't know that movie it was a comedy about pot use and he played a stoner.
Here is who threw out the Official First Mets Pitch yesterday. Pharaohe Monch a Queens Rapper and a Mets fan.
OH MY!! HOW DO I EXPLAIN TO MY CHILD WHO JIM BREUER IS? WHAT IF MY CHILD LOOKS HIM UP AND SEES SOME OF HIS OFF COLOR HUMOR! This was essentially what Hailey Welch did. She made an off color joke and it went viral. Some on X were saying that they didn't know how to explain this to their kids when they asked, "HEY MOM/DAD WHO IS THIS GIRL THROWING OUT THE FIRST PITCH?" All you would have to say is "I don't know. But it's cool she got to do it." Problem solved. No? Were you guys upset when any Playboy Playmate through out a first pitch? How about musicians that did end up making hit records but were involved in illegal activities before they were able to change their lives up for the better? How about comedians that work blue material? Gary "Bababooey" Dell'Abatte works for the raunchiest radio show in the history of broadcast and no one complained about that! Yeah I know Howard Stern has been trying to pretend a lot of stuff he did back in the day he didn't do but at the time of that first pitch the show was still pretty wild. Also if your kid is watching Youtube and ticktock you might want to go see what influencers they are following. You'll be appalled.
Oh one more thing. How many of you don't watch what you say or your other adult friends say around your kids? You guys are G rated all the time? Think about the music or podcasts you listen to in the car or at home. Think about that the next time you are in the car with your kids and you flip out on another driver and don't tell me you have never done that.
As Sap said in his video if you are mad because she got her 15 mins of fame because she went viral and not because she had been working on trying to become famous by honing a talent then I get that. I get that 100 percent.
I am now of the folks who kill the Mets when they do something stupid. But I am also fair to them to when they do good or it's a nothing issue that folks grab the pitchforks and torches for and go after the Mets. You morally upstanding folks going to shout down the casino being built near affordable housing and a school across 126th street too?
Now let me move on to this. Why was Hailey there. It was to raise awareness for the America's VetDogs charity which helps American War Veterans get paired up with service dogs.
So I guess some of the baseball community wasn’t too happy to see me yesterday 😬

The main reason I went to the game was to spread awareness and donate to America’s vet dogs which pairs dogs with war veterans for a forever home ♾️
