Mets Ticket Rep Annoyed Me.
I haven't heard from a Mets ticket rep in probably a year and a half. I made the mistake of wanting to find out what the Mets new flex plan actually has to really offer and not the vagueness the graphics that were presented in the email/website. I did this for the blog and maybe to dip my toes back into a plan. I got a call from the rep and you can tell he didn't have a hard script like one of those scam telemarketers that try to get your personal info but he did have bullet points. 1) Try to connect with the customer about their fandom by telling them some personal anecdotes about you fandom and then listen to them about how they became fans. 2) Try to get them down to the ballpark for a tour. 3) Tour doesn't work? Try getting them on a zoom call to try to figure out what membership is best for them. 4) Hard sell.

Mets Legend Ed Kranepool Has Passed Away
This one hit me in the gut just now. Ed had always been very good to me and the Queens Baseball Convention. He was our first former player to ever do a panel and a signing for the QBC all the way back to our first one at McFadden’s at Citi Field. He was so happy that the fans remembered him and wanted to hear his stories about on and off the field during his playing days.
I went to his house when he was selling some of his collection off to help raise money for his kidney transplant. It was great the way he would beam about the items he was selling. It wasn’t his “personal” collection but other cool stuff he collected over the years.
Ed came back a second time to the QBC because we wanted fans that missed him the first time to get another shot at his stories and get to meet a genuinely nice guy. We also wanted him to know that the fans still care about him. He was a hit again. He was in his element being amongst the fans taking pics and signing autographs.
We at The QBC felt so strongly that he was a part of the QBC family we had a special event at Katch to help raise money for his kidney transplant. Even when he wasn’t feeling 100 percent he was still on. He was so touched that about 100 folks came out that day to help raise some money to help him out that he teared up a bit. We were all glad to be able to do what we could for him.
On a quick personal note, I don’t talk about this much but one of my uncles tried out for the Mets way back in yesteryear. He was a pitcher and he got the invite to go to spring training. At the time my grandparents and the rest of their family didn’t have the funds to send him down to go see if he had the stuff to make the team. He met Kranepool during the tryouts and they chatted a bit, they didn’t become friends or anything like that but I always was amazed by that story. I’m also amazed how the universe works in weird ways over the years. My uncle met Ed when they were basically still kids in the 60’s, I got to be around Ed Three times because of something my Mets fandom helped me create. I got to go to his home with my buddy Joe (who is also QBC family now) that I met at work and became friends with him because of the Mets, and Ed always remembered me if he saw me at Citi Field or if he was doing a signing somewhere. He always remember my name.
I know I said that was going to be a quick personal note but I misspoke it seems. Ed Kranepool also shares one other thing with my uncle The both passed away within a few weeks of each other. Both at 80(ish) and now I’m thinking these two gentlemen might be able to reconnect and throw a ball around and joke around like they did when they met each other back in the day.
Thanks for indulging my longwinded post but I really felt that Ed Kranepool deserved it.

METS INTRODUCE METS FLEX, A NEW FLEXIBLE TICKET PLAN AS PART OF 2025 SEASON TICKET MEMBERSHIP PROGRAM
METS INTRODUCE METS FLEX, A NEW FLEXIBLE TICKET PLAN AS PART OF 2025 SEASON TICKET MEMBERSHIP PROGRAM
Mets Also Unveil New Creative Campaign Focusing on Making Memories at Mets Games
FLUSHING, N.Y., September 5, 2024 – The New York Mets today introduced Mets Flex, a new flexible ticket membership plan for the upcoming 2025 season. Mets Flex includes six different pricing tiers for fans and provides access to a range of marquee games during the 2025 season.
Based on market research and ongoing feedback from the Mets fan base, it became clear that fans desire to have greater control and flexibility around which games, and how many, to attend without being locked into a traditional, fixed season ticket package. With this flexible membership program, Mets fans can select from six different tiers and add a minimum spend to a “bank,” which can be used to buy tickets throughout the season at their convenience.
“Our general approach going forward is to be far more fan centric, enhancing our fans’ accessibility to games through structured discounts and the ability to sit in different areas around the ballpark for a customized experience,” said Jake Bye, Senior Vice President of Ticketing at the New York Mets. “This flexible option was something we heard consistently from Mets fans and using that feedback and the data research from our analytics team, we created multiple program tiers designed to give fans even more options to create a package that meets their unique needs.”
The 2025 season-ticket renewal period is currently open until September 16th for existing members. Beginning today, new 2025 memberships will be available to purchase. Single game tickets and other packages are subject to dynamic pricing and will be available at a future date. Benefits of being a season ticket member include early access to Citi Field special events; food, beverage and parking discounts; the convenience of preemptively exchanging tickets; Post Season access, and access to exclusive experiences and events throughout the year.
Memories are Stories Waiting to be Told
Further supporting the season ticket renewal window and the new Mets Flex plan, the Mets have also introduced a new creative campaign which will be running across digital, social and linear television. Leaning into the nostalgia of baseball, the new short film and commercial spots focus on the life-long memories that are created at Mets games, whether that be an iconic moment on field or connecting with friends and family in the stands. Watch the full spot here.
“Going to a baseball game is more than just a sport. It’s a collection of moments, stories and experiences that bring people together in unique ways and create lasting memories,” commented Andy Goldberg, Chief Marketing Officer, New York Mets. “These unforgettable memories become the stories we pass down to family and friends. This new campaign shows that it’s not always the play on the field, but the time spent with our family and friends that we remember most.”
The new making memories creative will begin going live today across social, digital and television.
Fans can learn more about the exciting opportunities to become part of the Mets Season Ticket Membership family with the Mets by visiting www.mets.com/memberships.
I just went to the memberships site and it starts out at $1039.00. Guess that’s fees etc. I wish the site gave better info that’s less vague.
