He has been keeping Gil's memory and teachings alive and also bleeds orange and blue. Art has kept Gil's ideals alive and is an exemplary person.

The Reds traded Shamsky to the New York Mets for infielder Bob Johnson in November 1967.[5] Having suffered from back pain the prior season, he had off-season surgery to have a cyst removed from his tailbone.[1]He initially found living in New York City to be intimidating, but eventually he "fell in love with the energy, got to know the city a bit. My life changed."[9] He became a favorite of Jewish fans in New York.[10]
In 1969 Shamsky hit .300 (second on the team), with a .375 on-base percentage, a .488 slugging percentage, and 14 home runs (second on the team) as half of a right field platoon with Ron Swoboda for the World Champion Mets.[5] He did this in pain, while suffering from a slipped disk in his back that was pressing against his sciatic nerve; one doctor told him he might never play again.[1] Shamsky was the regular starter against right-handed pitchers, with Swoboda starting against lefties. He batted .385 as a pinch hitter, and .388 in games that were late and close.[11] He still gets comments about his decision to not play on Yom Kippur that year. "The funny thing was, the Mets won both ends of a double header" that day, he later said.[9]
Shamsky's torrid hitting continued into the 1969 post-season. He started all three games of the NLCS, where he batted .538 batting cleanup, leading all batters.[5][1] In the World Series, Shamsky started only in Game 3, which was played on his 28th birthday. He went hitless in six at-bats in the series.
In 1970 he hit .293 (leading the team) with a .371 on-base percentage.[5][1] Despite only 402 at bats, he was 7th in the league with 13 intentional walks.[5]
After an injury-ridden season, he was traded with Jim Bibby, Rich Folkers and Charlie Hudson from the Mets to the St. Louis Cardinals for Jim Beauchamp, Harry Parker, Chuck Taylor and Chip Coulter on October 18, 1971.[12] In April 1972 he was released by the St. Louis Cardinals, and five days later signed as a free agent with the Chicago Cubs.[5]

It's also been the site of numerous fundraisers and charity events for those unfortunate times when the community has found itself in direst need, particularly in the days following 9/11.
Since its heart and soul are the generations upon generations of families for whom it's become a treasured gathering place, O'NEILL'S was especially proud to celebrate its 80th Anniversary on December 4, 2013 with a grandiose and festive alumni and customer appreciation reunion. METS SINGLE-GAME POSTSEASON TICKETS ON SALE THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 26
FLUSHING, N.Y., September 23, 2024 – The New York Mets today announced single-game tickets for Postseason games at Citi Field will go on sale Thursday, September 26 at 10 a.m. Fans can access the sale by visiting Mets.com/Postseason.
Fans should log on early, as a limited number of tickets for potential Mets home games in the Wild Card Series and National League Division Series will be available during this sale.

QBC 2024 will be held on Saturday December 7th. One of our fun former Mets Player panels is going to be number 99 Turk Wendell. Turk's Panel is going to be hosted by the returning NY1's Roger Clark. We at the QBC are luck to have Roger as part of our crew and he is also one of the biggest mets fans I know. Thank you again Roger for coming year in and year out.
Roger Clark is a multimedia journalist at Spectrum News NY1. Born in the Bronx, he lived in both Staten Island and Queens when he was young and is currently a Manhattan resident, making Brooklyn the only borough he’s yet to reside in.
Roger holds a Bachelor of Science in broadcast journalism and communications from Syracuse University. He got his start working for local news affiliates around New York state before beginning his tenure at NY1 in 2001, and he counts telling stories in his hometown as a dream come true. Whether he's dressed as a cannoli on Mulberry Street, or reporting from one of the city's many cultural institutions in communities all over the five boroughs, Roger is always game for a challenge.
In addition to his career in news, Roger is also an accomplished drummer and lifelong punk rock enthusiast. When he’s not in the office, you can find him playing softball for his local league or hanging out with his wife and son and cat Beatrice. Often, Roger can be found on the road following his son's own youth sports activities, or at a stadium or arena rooting on his favorite New York City sports teams. It's a busy life, but he wouldn't have it any other way!

METS ANNOUNCE PLAYER DEVELOPMENT AWARDS
FLUSHING, N.Y., September 20, 2024 – The New York Mets today announced
the 2024 Player Development Award winners. Outfielder Nick Morabito was named the organization’s Player of the Year and RHP Brandon Sproat was named Pitcher of the Year. Outfielder Edward Lantigua was named DSL Player of the Year and RHP Jose Guevara was tabbed
as the DSL Pitcher of the Year. Additionally, Ches Goodman, Coordinator of Minor League Operations was named Minor League Staff Member of the Year and Anthony Sambois, Manager, Latin America Baseball Systems was named Dominican Academy Staff Member of the
Year.
The recipients of the Player and Pitcher of the Year awards and Staff Member of the Year awards will be honored during a pre-game, on-field at
Citi Field on September 20 prior to New York’s 7:10 p.m. game against the Philadelphia Phillies.
Morabito, 21, batted .312 (142-455) with 59 stolen bases and a .403 OBP in 119 games between Single-A St. Lucie and High-A Brooklyn. Among all full season minor league players,
Morabito ranked seventh in stolen bases and 13th
among qualifiers in average. The outfielder began the season with St. Lucie and was named Florida State League Player of the Month for April. During the month, Morabito batted .397/.518/.529
and led the league in average (.397), hits (27), on-base percentage (.518) and OPS (1.047). He was promoted to Brooklyn on May 6 and set
the franchise’s single-season record in hits (110) and stolen bases (48). A South Atlantic League Post-Season All-Star, Morabito became the first Mets minor leaguer
to hit .300 with at least 50 stolen bases since Brian Cole (1999 & 2000). A native of McLean, VA, Morabito was selected by the Mets with 75th
overall pick in the 2022 First-Year Player Draft out of Gonzaga College High School in Washington, D.C.
In his first professional season Sproat ascended through the minor league ranks beginning the season with Brooklyn and ending the season with Syracuse. Sproat pitched to a 1.07 ERA (3
ER/25.1 IP) in six outings with the Cyclones before his promotion to Binghamton on May 13. In 11 starts with the Rumble Ponies, Sproat went 4-1 with a 2.45 ERA (17 ER/62.1 IP), 77 strikeouts, a 0.89 WHIP and a .181 opponent batting average. The Pace, FL native
was selected to play for the National League in the 2024 All-Star Future’s Game in Arlington, Texas. Sproat capped his Binghamton tenure on August 2 with a 13 strikeout performance in which he fanned 11 consecutive batters, one more than the major league record.
The right-hander finished his season with six starts at Syracuse, highlighted by a 5.1-inning scoreless outing on September 1. He finished the year with 131 strikeouts in 116.1 innings. The 24-year-old was selected with the 56th
overall pick in the 2023 First-Year Player Draft.
After signing as an international free agent in January, Lantigua posted a .792 OPS and stole nine bases across 45 games in the Dominican Summer League. Over 18 games in July, Lantigua,
17, produced a .567 SLG and 1.130 OPS in July, both top five in the league during that span. Lantigua was named a midseason DSL All-Star and went 1-for-3 with
a stolen base in the All-Star Game.
Guevara made his professional debut this summer in the Dominican Summer League and went 3-2 with a 1.64 ERA (8 ER/44.0 IP) and 52 strikeouts over 10 starts. On June 17, the Venezuela native
started a combined perfect game for DSL Mets Blue and threw 6.0 spotless innings. For his performance, Guevara was named DSL Pitcher of the Week. The 19-year-old was named to the DSL midseason All-Star team and worked a scoreless inning in the All-Star Game.
Goodman’s seven-year tenure with the Mets organization, began as a clubhouse assistant for the St. Lucie Mets from 2015 –18. while he attended Port St. Lucie High School. In 2021, Goodman
returned to the St. Lucie Mets as a clubhouse manager before transitioning to an assistant in minor league travel in February of 2022. Goodman held his position in minor league travel until January of 2024 when he was promoted to Coordinator of Minor League
Operations. Goodman is renowned not only for his professional skills but also for his positive vibes and kindness to everyone, regardless of their role.
Sambois, Manager of Latin America Baseball Systems for the New York Mets, has played a pivotal role in
transforming the Mets Dominican Academy’s data and technology operations to a best-in-class standard. Sambois’ leadership has been pivotal in the rollout of all
player development technologies, including Hawkeye, and he has overseen significant upgrades to the Academy’s WiFi infrastructure. His efforts ensure that the streaming of both DSL teams' games is performed at a level that rivals major networks. Additionally,
Anthony has played a crucial role in modernizing the Mets' international scouting processes, overseeing a data collection team that travels worldwide.

Great News folks. After a virtual desert of info coming out about Queens Baseball Convention 2024 we final have some info. We have procured the biggest Gregg Jefferies fan that I know. He is a professional wrestler, a professional food reviewer, a professional podcaster, a die hard Mets fan and a buddy of mine.
We have been very lucky to grab Captain Joe Shoes to steer the ship of the Gregg Jefferies panel. The Captain is uber talented and is going to be a great return to the QBC. Oh you guys didn't know the Captain was around in the early days of the QBC when he was a contestant on The 7Line Dating game! Welcome back to the Captain.

The Amazin’ Mets Foundation, led by Foundation President and Mets Owner Alex Cohen, will award the second annual Amazin’ Mets Foundation Legacy Award to the Louisville Slugger Warriors Amputee Baseball Team in a pregame ceremony on September 21. The Amazin’ Mets Foundation Legacy Award celebrates the people and organizations in the baseball community that are making a difference and driving impactful change, on and off the field.
The Louisville Slugger Warriors are a nationally sponsored and extremely competitive amputee baseball team that consists of U.S. Military Veterans, Active Duty personnel, Wounded Warriors, and current and former amputee college baseball players. The Warriors are coached by former Major League Baseball players who donate their time and expertise. The team is currently coached by Curtis Pride, a deaf former MLB player and advocate for the deaf and hard of hearing in sports. Mr. Pride was originally drafted by the Mets in 1986 and previously coached the Gallaudet University baseball team.
“The Amazin’ Mets Foundation is proud to honor the Warriors Amputee Baseball Team with the Legacy Award and highlight their resilience, determination, and passion for baseball,” said Alex Cohen, Foundation President and Mets Owner. “Their story inspires people of all abilities to participate in the game we love so much. We are especially honored to welcome Curtis Pride, a former draft pick by the Mets, to Citi Field.”
Also joining Alex Cohen at Citi Field for the award ceremony will be General Manager David Van Sleet, who served in the Army and worked for the Department of Veterans, specializing in prosthetics, catcher Carlo James Adame, retired U.S. Army Sergeant First Class who served three tours of duty in Iraq and is a right leg amputee, and pitcher Parker Hanson, a motivational speaker who was born without a left hand.
The team plays in national baseball tournaments around the country and in special baseball game events, all against-able bodied teams. They currently play in West Palm Beach, Fla., at the Ball Park of the Palm Beaches and are also filming a documentary, Curveballs, as a way to inspire others.
The Amazin’ Mets Foundation’s inaugural Legacy Award honored Maybelle Blair, a champion for women’s baseball, in 2023. Since its inception in 2021, the Amazin’ Mets Foundation has funded over $11.9 million in grants to over 170 organizations in the community, including the communities surrounding affiliate teams.
